This website is specifically tailored to high school philosophy clubs, but everyone, regardless of high school affiliation, is encouraged to join and participate in the conversations and debates. An account is not required to participate in the primarily philosophical discussions, but hey, why not join the club for all of them, like the most heated of the debates in the members-only section.

I was talking to my friend Patricia about philosophy club and she looked at me like I was advocating ritual human sacrifice.
"Philosophy club? Oh, I hate philosophy! It's all these open-ended questions and none of them have a right answer and everyone's opnion has merit but really all of them are equally useless..."
And I respond,
"Exactly. Don't you see the appeal?"
So I just wanted to see what the members of philosophy club thought of... a club on philosophy.

My ownly beef is, like Patricia, I sometimes think that even though people are all entitled to have opinions, it would be in everyone's best interest if they didn't voice them. At least not all of them, all the time.

Well, who doesn't want to join a club involving ritual human sacrifice?

No one is forced to voice their opinion in this club last I checked, which is what I like. Participating every 20th response is nice because unless there is a major disagreement that I can absolutely beat down, then I can relax and enjoy the sundry thinking.

Well, I think it's kind of like chocolate. Too much of the really intense stuff, either too sweet or too dark or too just plain nasty, is bad for you, but in moderation, chocolate is awesome.

The club was started when I was a Sophomore, and after all the Seniors graduated, it was up to Erin and I to do whatever the hell we wanted honestly lol. I love Philosophy because you can't avoid it. Even if it's not formally called "Philosophy," it's every where in our lives. Why people choose to join PETA or go green or give to homeless people asking for cash, all of that makes up your own personal philosophy on how you wanna run your life.

Plus, who knows? Maybe there's an actual "right" answer after all? We won't know until we try. Smile

Well I think that everyone has opinions, but people tend to be shy about expressing them either because they think that no one will listen to them, or because they think that others will judge them. So I think it's cool to create an environment that's totally open-minded and free of judgement so people wouldn't have to have inhibitions about saying what they really think about stuff.
